Treatment Services
At Unique, we have pretreatment and post treatment capabilities to ensure we get the best possible ink adhesion results. For polypropylene and polyethylene plastic parts, we have flame treating and plasma treating equipment place to ensure proper adhesion.
Treatment Capabilities at Unique
For these processes, we use custom built pretreatment equipment that has been designed for high output for both flat and round plastic parts - meaning lower pretreatment cost for the customer. For high volume projects, we can add plasma treating to our 4 station and 6 station dial tables putting the treatment process in-line for even more cost savings.
- At times, parts arrive with surface contaminates such as dust or mold release that will adversely affect ink or foil adhesion. Depending on the material of the part, we have a variety of chemicals that can remove the contaminate.
- We also have several industrial heat ovens for post treatment to ensure proper ink adhesion glass parts and some plastic parts.
- For more challenging plastics such as Acetal (Delrin / Celcon) or Urea, we have developed printing processes that produce excellent adhesion.
For pretreating polypropylene and polyethylene parts, we have the option of plasma treating. Plasma is a gas that has the capacity to conduct electricity.
Flame treating lowers the surface tension of the plastic to allow for proper ink adhesion. We have custom-built flame treating equipment for both flat parts such as polypropylene caps for CBD products and cylindrical polyethylene bottles for the health and beauty industry.
To achieve proper ink adhesion, the printing or decorating surface must be free of all surface contaminates. Common surface contaminates are dust, mold release, and hand oils from parts being handled without gloves.
For both plastic and metal parts, post-treatment is sometimes required to achieve maximum ink adhesion. And for glass parts, post-treatment is almost always required for maximum ink adhesion.
Custom Foil Banding
With foil banding services, we can apply a band on virtually any shaped plastic cap, closure, collar or dispenser shroud with an impressive, high-end appearing reflective metallic foil or a high gloss opaque colored foil which is not achievable with pad printing or screen printing inks.
Heat Transfer Decal Decorating
cost-effective alternative to multicolor pad printing or screen printing for plastic parts, depending on the required image size and the total quantity for the project. We can offer this service for medium, high volume and bulk orders. Heat transfer decals can be applied to many plastic materials such as polypropylene, polyethylene, PVC and acrylic.
Colorization & Holograming
Unique Assembly & Decorating works closely with the collectible industry, providing coin colorization services and holographic coin decorating for US and foreign coins and medallions of precious and non-precious materials. We also provide colorization for paper currency.
Industrial Digital Inkjet Printing
Unique Assembly & Decorating now offers industrial digital inkjet product decorating and printing! This cutting-edge product decorating technology is a direct-to-substrate digital inkjet process that features high precision four-color process printing plus white for plastic, glass, wood and metal substrates.
Laser Marking
Laser marking is the latest product decorating option that we have added to our list of product decorating capabilities. With the decorating process, we can mark plastic, metal, and painted flat surfaces. For example, we have laser-marked painted metal keychains as a promotional item and metal bottle openers as a promotional item for the restaurant and bar industry.
Our precision fixtures are designed to position each part accurately, ensuring exact imprint repeatability and tight registration for multicolor jobs. These tools range from cast and poured epoxy and urethane fixtures to CNC machined aluminum fixtures.
By using laser etching, with this laser plate maker, we can create pad printing plates directly from the digital file which eliminates the film required for the traditional method of making pad printing plates.
We have in-house color matching capabilities to specific PMS colors, and we can custom color match when provided color chips or swatches. With screen printing, we can typically match any PMS or custom color regardless of the part color in one-pass.
To achieve the best results, we require vector images for most of our printing and decorating processes - pad printing, screen printing, hot stamping, and laser engraving.
Project Gallery
Unique Assembly is able to print or decorate nearly any rigid surface – flat or cylindrical, concave or convex, raised or recessed, and painted or coated surfaces.
